Scotts Hotel in the heart of Killarney has announced a major upgrade to its in-house connectivity offering, just in time for Kerry’s peak summer holiday season. Delivered by Kerry-based broadband retailer, Ivertec, the milestone installation brings SIRO’s robust fibre-to-the-premise broadband to the hotel ensuring that it has the level of future proofed connectivity essential for the hotel and its guests.
A family-run business known for its warm welcome and central location at the gateway to the Ring of Kerry, Scotts Hotel plays a key role in the local tourism offering. Its new robust fibre broadband service is a major asset to the hotel’s operations and guest experience, supporting everything from High-Definition streaming to virtual conferencing and cloud-based services.
The enhanced connectivity forms part of a wider programme of investment and service upgrades at Scotts Hotel, all focused on elevating the standard of hospitality offered. Scotts Hotel has embarked on a significant €2 million investment program aimed at enhancing its hospitality standards. This comprehensive upgrade includes extensive renovations to 52 of their double rooms, ensuring a blend of modern comfort and traditional Irish charm, alongside the installation of air conditioning throughout the entire hotel for year-round guest comfort, and the addition of solar panels, demonstrating a commitment to sustainability.
A key part of Scotts Hotel’s upgraded broadband service is its in-built resilience which provides a dual-path fibre system, offering seamless and uninterrupted connectivity. This means that if one fibre route is disrupted, a backup connection automatically activates, ensuring always-on service for hotel guests and staff.
SIRO, Ireland’s leading full-fibre broadband operator, continues to pioneer high-speed connectivity for businesses across the country. SIRO’s network now reaches 143 cities and town across Ireland, powering tens of thousands of homes and businesses in every county in Ireland. In Kerry, SIRO’s network is available in Tralee, Killarney and Castleisland.
Kerry broadband retailer partner Ivertec played a central role in delivering this connection. With a strong reputation built over 25 years, Ivertec is now a leading telecoms provider in the South-West, supporting a wide range of businesses – particularly in the corporate, education, and hospitality sectors.
Maurice O’Donoghue, Managing Director of Scotts Hotel, commented:
“Fast, reliable fibre broadband is not a nice to have, it is now an essential for every business in the hospitality industry. Often, the first question our guests ask when they come through our doors is about the quality of connectivity across the hotel.
“Whether streaming content for devices; catching up on work emails, staying connected with family and friends at home or gaming devices for the kids, our guests expect a high standard of broadband, that’s seamless and hassle-free. Moving to fibre to the premise broadband gives us that certainty of quality of service and our guests a great user experience.
“Of course, as a hospitality business we equally need best in class broadband to undertake daily operations such as digital payments, video conferencing, cloud services and large files transfers, making full fibre broadband vital to working productively and growing our business.”
Gerard O’Sullivan, Ivertec CEO, commented:
“We’re delighted to have been chosen by Scotts Hotel to provide their fibre connectivity solution. Our objective is to support local Kerry businesses to access broadband and connectivity solutions which best meet their unique requirements and commercial priorities.
“With a full fibre broadband connection, Scotts Hotel will have high quality connectivity which can meet current and future data demands of their business and will provide both the hotel and their guests a really positive user experience and high-quality service.”
Aoife O’Reilly, SIRO Head of Enterprise noted:
“Hospitality is a fast changing and challenging sector, which requires businesses to keep innovating and responding to customer requirements and wider trends. Consumers are increasing utilising and engaging with digital technologies, including for leisure, entertainment and travel. Broadband connectivity is the foundation for all digital technologies, making having strong and reliable broadband essential for businesses such as Scotts Hotel.
“Equally, switching off outdated copper broadband, which can’t meet the demands of business today, is now a key priority for Irish businesses. Scott’s Hotel connectivity upgrade ensures that their connectivity allows their business to operate more productively, without disruption or lag, and unlock new digital technologies such as AI, to work better and smarter.”
