Muckross Lake Loop
The Muckross Lake Loop is a longer walk of approximately 15km, circling the beautiful Muckross Lake. The route passes woodland, lakeshore scenery, Dinis Cottage, Bricín Bridge and the Meeting of the Waters, where the lakes of Killarney come together. Walkers can also take a short detour to visit Torc Waterfall. Allow several hours to complete the full loop and bring suitable footwear, water and snacks.
Planning your walk in Killarney
Be sure to plan your route in advance, ensure that you have the correct footwear especially for longer hikes with elevation. Don’t forget to bring water, especially on hot days and snacks for the longer hikes.
For all trips in the Killarney National Park, it is important to respect the nature and wildlife as well as the other visitors to the park. Be mindful of any noise you make and bring any waste or rubbish home to protect the park and its wildlife.
It is highly recommended to stay on the marked paths, especially for the longer more intermediate hikes. Not only are the marked paths easier to traverse but they are easy to follow to ensure you don’t get lost.
